Ford Men’s AJ Abualrub features in a GQ Russia Sep. 2010 editorial photographed by Walter Chin with styling by Ekaterina Melnikova. The Ford Models Blog‘s understanding of the Cyrillic alphabet is still wanting, but having read all about this story on The Fashionisto and MDC, we figured out all we needed to know and did not want to be left behind on the Russian steppe having not mentioned this story! The 6’1½” (187 cm) American appears to have found himself smack in the middle of a university architecture studio on student critique day. What would otherwise be a chilly afternoon discussing the pitfalls of a flat roof in Vermont is made to look, well, sexy in that bookish sort of way. Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Prada, Lanvin, and the rest of course grease the wheels so that this editorial doesn’t careen into the all black ravine that is the default look for most male architects practicing in New York State. Last week AJ was in that Philip Johnson inspired glass house for the Raoul F/W 10 campaign, which makes us think a pattern is emerging. If AJ’s speaking at Cooper Union next week, then we’ll be certain this is anything but chance.
